MDP Sessions on “Customer Buying Decisions in Retailing ” and “ Rural Retailing NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR COOPERATIVE TRAINING

 

A 2-sessions MDP on “ Customer Buying Decisions in Retailing“ and “ Rural Retailing “were organized on 8th and 9th December 2013 for NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR COOPERATIVE TRAINING. The programme was attended by 45 participants on Day and 42 participants on Day 2. These participants were unemployed youth of Backward Classes and were sponsored by NBCFDC ( National Backward Classes Financing and Development Corporation ) that comes under MINISTRY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE & EMPOWERMENT.

There were two sessions conducted by Prof. Rajat Gera; “ Customer Buying Decisions in Retailing “ and “ Rural Retailing “
Professor gave insights and overview on how customers behave while taking purchase
decisions. Using several cases and examples of Malls, Supermarkets, Hyper-Markets and Local
Retail Stores, he explained the participants how customers behave while taking purchase
decisions w.r.t. different product categories and also based on their socio-economic class.

Using a pedagogy of Live Cases, he made the participants understand the various kinds of retail marketing strategies and options available in the rural market today. Using interesting case studies of ITC, India Post and Philips, he explained how these organizations made an impact by their retail marketing strategies in rural areas, and also explained what career options the participants had, in terms of pursuing a career option in rural retailing.

The session was attended by more than 40 participants and the feedback of the session was 9.46 on a scale of 10.00.
