New Delhi (Non-Residential)
Prof. Vivek Kumar
and Prof. Devendra Bahadur
Globalisation is ushering in competition basically on three parameters – Quality, Cost and Timeliness. In some ways all three are related and require investment into the operations. Managements would like to find out the cost-benefit of this additional outlay. Conventionally, purchasing involves blocking of significant quantum of precious funds and result in huge hidden costs (interest, storage, shrinkage, handling, insurance, preservation etc.) and as such needs serious management control to optimize the utilization of finance, space and time using various available methods for evaluating the ROI in a scientific manner.
Effective purchasing is important for any enterprise – manufacturing or service, public or private. Over the last few decades, the nature of this function has radically changed from just buying cheap to procuring right. From being just a support function it has matured into a profit centre that plays a strategic role in achievement of organizational objectives and improving profitability. This program highlights this changed role of the Procurement function bringing out its immense potential ‘Right Purchasing’ offers to the enterprise in improving its operational performance. Purchasing today is not just a support activity but binds together all the organs of the company namely manufacturing, operations, services, finance, stores besides the suppliers and customers. This three-day program has been designed to enable Indian business use purchasing capability in optimizing its operations and directly improving its bottom-line.
