TWO days MDP on Corporate Social Responsibility for Sustainable Business

Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi with TUV Rheinland, organized Two Day Management development programme on Corporate Social Responsibility for sustainability business, on 17-18th January 2013 at its MDP Center –Takshila, New Delhi.

The workshop was well organized with a combination of presentations, detailed case studies, interactive group discussions and practical sessions. The workshop was aimed with a detail discussion on current CSR guidelines and its outcome with a combination of revised DPE, ISO 26000 and sustainable reporting with Indian and International CSR Experts. The workshop also included global trends driving corporate responsibility,discussion on how the leading companies have responded, and what they have gained.

The workshop began with an inauguration and  Keynote address on objective and Need of CSR by Mr. Vimal Kumar (CSR-Head BHEL), Programme Director –Dr. Poonam Kumar, Dr. D K Batra (Director AIM Delhi) and Prof B D Singh (Dean Executive AIM Delhi) .

Key Resource person were Mr. Ganga C Sharma (Country Head CSR & sustainability services), Mr. Ashwani Kumar (Ex-CSR Head BHEL) and Mr. Martin (CEO CSR COMPANY).

Mr. Ganga C Sharma (Country Head CSR & sustainability services) focused on: Importance of CSR in modern business, Voluntary initiatives of Social Responsibility, CSR disclosure & Sustainability Reportingstructure as per GRI- G3 Guidelines, Guidance of social Responsibility core subjects with labour practices, environment and consumer issues. Mr. Ashwani Kumar (Ex-CSR Head BHEL) discussed about current DPE guidelines, Guidance of SR on integrating with community development and engaging stakeholders. He also focused on Indian initiatives like CSR National Voluntary guidelines and other policies. Mr. Martin (CEO CSR COMPANY) on video conferencing talked on ISO 26000, its development process and scope in global world.

The workshop ended with concluding session by Ms. Reva Nayyar (IAS officer -Retd, Chairman on the Board of Community Friendly Movement & as Director in Essel Social Welfare Foundation, chairperson of Bal Sahyog, appointed in November 2010 by Prime Minister of India Dr. ManMohan Singh) with a detailed discussion on CSR and its importance with practical discussion on corporate and NGO involvement. Workshop had participants from mixture of PSU companies like NHPC, BHEL, Power grid, United Insurance, world famous organizations in CSR Domain like Indian center for CSR, Safe water network, save the children, Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust, Jamia CSR cell and IGNOU.
